Powerball Win: $50K Prize Given Out In CT

Although no one in Connecticut was lucky enough to win the jaw-dropping $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot, one fortunate lottery player in the Nutmeg State still came away with a respectable $50,000.

The third-prize-winning Powerball ticket, worth $50,000, was sold for the drawing on Wednesday, Oct. 11, Connecticut Lottery announced.

The winner, whose name was not revealed, matched four numbers but failed to match the Powerball number and earn an extra $50,000 through the Power Play.

The winning numbers were 22 24 40 52 64, with a Powerball number of 10.

The win in Connecticut came on the same night that a lucky winner in California won the jackpot worth a whopping $1.765 billion. The new billionaire will now get to choose between an annuitized prize worth an estimated $1.765 billion or a lump sum payment of $774.1 million, according to Powerball officials.
